Your assignments

Functional Goal:

  • Lead one or several cross-functional Product Team (PT) on the full project life span (from early stage to post approval)
  • Lead the creation and implementation of the Target Product Claim, development (Integrated Development Plan) and commercialization and Life Cycle Management strategy with functional team members within agreed quality, timelines and budget
  • Lead the Global Program Leadership activities ensuring high standards of performance of the PT and its individual members
  • Assume accountability for the delivery of the overall product strategy and drive product P&L. Drive and lead the project teams from a strategic standpoint. Provide critical cross-functional input into project strategy and ensure cohesion of the project activities, striving for cross functional alignment and issue resolutions at the PT level
  • Drive strategic initiative leading to improved project profitability, reduced risk profile and better competitivity
  • As member of the leadership team of the / Project Management function, contribute to the strategy of the function
  • Act as deputy to Head of Program Leadership and Management when senior leadership input/attendance at meetings is required

Main tasks:

  • Lead the Product Team in the definition and execution of the development and commercialization and LCM strategy within agreed quality, timelines and budget
  • Drive the product P&L
  • Represent the Product and Product Team interests in presentations to Biosimilar Executive Committee (BEC) or Steerco Meetings
  • Define the strategy of in alignment with relevant government bodies and get approval from BEC. Actively contribute to portfolio decisions
  • Be accountable for driving the valuation of projects, including external opportunities, leading the creation of assumptions and the alignment for project evaluation
  • Set priorities within the project, escalate resource conflicts and contribute to resolution. Align resources needs and prioritization with government bodies
  • Intervene in case of cross-functional disagreement and find solutions to avoid escalation
  • Drive definition of robust and focused Target Commercial Profiles (TCP) together with commercial function, generate comprehensive and consistent strategic development plans (iDP) with PT, contribute to definition of regulatory dossier strategy and creation of storyline, key messages for the regulatory consultations, Work with team to develop a medical, commercialization strategy and LCM strategy
  • Provide direction, inspire, mentor and coach a team of project managers, guiding, developing, setting team objectives and leading performance reviews
  • Remain abreast of new developments in the biosimilar field, and contribute to building business insight and knowledge within the Biosimilars team
  • Ensure optimal steering of processes, and contribute to improvement of systems (processes, tools)

Financial Dimension:

  • Drive Product P&L for 1 or several Product
  • Prioritize program activities in line with the approved program strategy and plans; align resource needs with the biosimilar leadership members and any necessary committee
  • Strategic Impact
  • Lead the Product Team, define the program strategy and drive the implementation of a program for the biosimilar unit with substantial impact on the success of the program and therefore the success of the whole unit

Preparation, creation:

  • Oversee and contribute to the creation of key Project documents such as Target Commercial Profile, Integrated Development Plan, QTPP, submission strategy and submission roll out, commercialization and LCM plan

Execution:

  • Lead Biosimilar Product Team (s) to ensure accountability and performance of the team and each functional representative
  • Make necessary decisions for the product within the framework of the approved strategy or escalate to the governance committee if appropriate
  • Communicate transparently project events and risk (changes in the risk profile), mitigations to governance committees

Support:

  • Leading Portfolio Evaluation at project level
  • Support Business Development and Alliance Management in evaluation of opportunities and due diligence activities and in maintaining efficient working relationships with external partners

Other Tasks:

People Responsibility:

  • Up to 4 people
  • Ensure development, mentoring, coaching of Project Manager(s)
  • Ensure people management responsibilities

Cooperation with internal and external stakeholders:

  • All members of the Biosimilars governance committees and functions represented in the Product Team
  • Head of functions within biosimilar unit and within Fresenius Kabi Deutschland
  • Fresenius Kabi Deutschland experts in R&D and manufacturing as required
  • Controlling, Finance, Portfolio, Manufacturing
  • Regulatory agencies; CROs, CMO and licensing partners
  • Fresenius Kabi marketing and commercial organisations

Your profile

Education:

  • Advanced scientific/business degree with 10+ years’ experience or bachelors with 15+ years’ experience in biopharma/biotech/biosimilars industry

Job Specific Competencies & Skills:

  • Good knowledge of end-to-end biosimilar development and LCM
  • Leadership skills including successful experience in managing cross functional teams in matrix organization
  • Excellent organizational skills a must
  • Ability to deal with complexity and translate various inputs and conceptual ideas into strategies.
  • Strategic orientation, leadership and management competencies (problem solving, influencing and decision making, driving teams to deliverables, …)
  • Strong decision-making skills that include the ability to moderate discussions and enable decision making.
  • Strong understanding of global market needs
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and action/results driven
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific, market data obtained at different stages of project
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, including assertiveness.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking and relationship skills required
  • Interest for developing his/her peers, mentoring, coaching.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs and project management tools & concepts

Languages:

  • Fluency in English essential, both oral and written; additional languages (German or French) are an asset

Work experience:

  • Demonstrated success operating in a global matrix organization with the full breadth of functions contributing to drug development
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles
