Missions
Your primary responsibilities will be to:
- Develop a technology towards identifying the Mode of Action/ biochemical target of new compounds and also aiming at fostering the discovery of new starting points by joining a cross division Pharma/Cropscience project team. More specifically, establish and validate a library of strains to characterize target engagement by Cellular Thermal Shift Assay (CETSA) in plant pathogens fungi (e.g. Botrytis cinerea), and explore feasibility to create a CETSA atlas on the whole proteome.
- Design library of strains and establish novel assays for evaluating target engagement for agrochemical applications.
- Evaluate and implement preliminary steps to develop high-throughput vitro screen based on developed assays in collaboration with Screening Technology and Pharma.
- Keep awareness of scientific developments in this field, plan experiments, evaluate, interpret, present and publish scientific results.
- Actively interacts with bioinformaticians, chemists, biochemists and biologists in an interdisciplinary life science project across Bayer divisions (CropScience and Pharma) and sites.
- Actively participate in and influence the Biochemistry communities within Bayer Crop Science.
- Perform all related experiments in accordance with biosafety and stewardship Bayer’s regulations.
Profile
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility and Efficiency) values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer Crop Science seeks a candidate who possesses the following:
- PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology or a related discipline as well as strong scientific track record and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and cell biology is required.
- Experience in molecular biology methods (genetic analysis, fungi transformation) and biochemistry (molecule-protein interaction analysis, protein purification, synthetic biology).
- Knowledge in proteomics is an advantage.
- Experience with fungi model systems and plant fungi molecular interactions is helpful.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams across countries.
- Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written, basic knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage.
