Tasks
The overall objective is to generate new profitable businesses in the areas assigned to the Business Development Director accounting for an additional annual turnover commensurate with the aspiration of Airbus growth within the EADS Vision 2020 objectives.
You will be responsible for:
Leading business development projects that do not fit into an existing business line:
You will be in charge of identifying, creating, and delivering business development projects that are not led by an Airbus directorate or subsidiary, either because they require cross functional expertise, or because they are outside of existing directorate or subsidiary expertise. In both cases, the Business Development Director will be in charge of leading the project to maturity, negotiating joint venture or acquisition agreements if required, and finally transferring the project to the appropriate business line.
Supporting directorate and subsidiaries developing business through external growth:
You will be in charge of assessing the strategic fit of external growth project led by Airbus directorates or Airbus subsidiaries, and submitting it for validation at Airbus EC or EADS M&A level as appropriate.
In this regard, you will support the directorates or subsidiaries, which have the business expertise, and be the single voice liaising with EADS M&A team.
After validation, you will negotiate agreements with third parties for external growth projects under leadership of EADS M&A team when appropriate, in close liaison with the participations and strategic control team (FM), and the central legal affairs corporate team (GCC).
On request from the management team, preparing independent advice on business setup, governance or cooperation models:
Under request from the management, or a specific function, you will prepare an independent advice on strategic business development issues.
Profile
Holding a 5-degree diploma in Aerospace Engineering and an MBA in General Management, you have relevant experience (5 to 10 years) in similar field.
You have the following capabilities:
- Autonomy and creative thinking,
- Market competitive analysis,
- Business case drafting and analysis,
- Negotiation experience,
- Good presentation and persuasion skills,
- Ability to deliver in a cross-functional environment.
- A negotiation level in English is mandatory.
- Other Airbus languages (French, German, Spanish) should be a plus.
