Job description
The French-German Institute for Environmental Research (DFIU) is a researchinstitution with the mandate to sustain the widespread wish of France and Germany for strengthening cross-border scientific cooperation. Our ambition is tobe one of the central scientific players in the area of French-German and international environmental and energy research. It is associated with the Institutefor Industrial Production (IIP).
Your main task is working on interdisciplinary, practice-oriented research projects dealing with techno-economic and socio-technical analyses in the context of the sustainable energy transition. A particular focus of this research will be energy and environmental issues in the French-German context, such as:
- development of the European energy system and transmission grid as well asof selected distribution grids with the aim of maximizing the use of volatile renewables (PV, wind, ...)
- electric mobility (market penetration, smart charging…) including the modelingof user behavior in innovative mobility systems
- decentralized energy systems (up to the self-sufficiency of individual buildings). This includes aspects of user acceptance in the context of providing flexibility
- issues related to sector coupling for mobility and transport (e.g. charging profiles, flexibility of charging and recovery, regionally and temporally differentiated ramp-up curves of electric vehicles)
- public acceptance and individual adoption of sustainable energy systems andpolicies
- sustainable value chains, material flows, and sustainable urban development
The position offers the opportunity of pursuing a doctoral degree.
Personal qualification
Required:
- A master's degree in industrial engineering, business administration, process engineering, economics, mathematics, social sciences or a similar subject
- Interest in performing quantitative analyses on energy topics
- Knowledge/experience in the implementation of computer-aided models, such as operations research methods or statistical data analysis
- Professional aptitude, a high level of commitment, good self-organization andgood English language skills
Desirable, but not a prerequisite:
- Domain knowledge
- German language skills
