Tasks and Responsibilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Define R&D plans in your particular field of manufacturing expertise to achieve overall project timeline and manufacturing technology maturity (MRL) requirements, ensuring that the technology selection and development planning is consistent with the engineering design of the target serial product (co-development).
  • The R&D plans shall deliver mature manufacturing technology, meeting aerospace production quality and regulatory standards within the timescales provided to you.
  • Define the detailed R&D activities needed to deliver the high level plans and be responsible for delivery of these activities specified.
  • Be prepared to work with a mix of internal departments, domestic production plants, technology centers and a range of external partners in the completion of the R&D activities.
  • Take the lead in setting up the physical and contractual infrastructure needed to deliver your R&D plans.
  • Take full delegated responsibility, given to you by your line manager, to deliver all aspects of the R&D plans.
  • Be creative, take responsibility and drive your work with pace, autonomy and with confidence to challenge norms and propose alternative solutions.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Scientific subjects.
  • Or, have a very detailed practical knowledge of the manufacturing area gained through working in a production environment
  • A strong problem solving mind-set and ability to lead others within a structured, systematic environment
  • Language Skills – fluent English is required
