Bayer Direct Services GmbH
Bayer is a global enterprise with core competencies in the Life Science fields of health care and agriculture. Its products and services are designed to benefit people and improve their quality of life. At Bayer you have the opportunity to be part of a culture where we value the passion of our employees to innovate and give them the power to change.
Key tasks & responsibilities
- To lead and manage the technical support to key accounts to maximize SpA sales
- To manage and coordinate all technical activities required as well as coordinate and supervise regulatory topics.
- To support development of key accounts and key customer strategies and provide technical support within the scope of Key Account Management. Communicate the account plans to all relevant parties, as well as develop, coordinate, and monitor monthly updates.
- To investigate further growth areas for key countries and look for new ai’s or alternative technologies to be offered in the relevant fields, as well as new applications for existing ai’s.
- To negotiate with customers at all levels in their respective organization and often at a very senior level. The negotiations cover such areas as supply of ai’s, research and development, trademark user licenses, and other intellectual property usages. Most of the business is covered by contracts and many of them are defined as ‘Essential Contracts’ under the e-filial system.
- To participate in the management of the Global SpA through membership in the Leadership Team and contribute to the overall BES strategy by aligning business priorities and leading execution to achieve operational and strategic goals.
Value added :
- The position is one of technical management in a highly complex business and diverse environment. Of importance is the management of relationships with 3rd party companies that can be both customers and competitors to BCS/BES and many compete. This requires a high degree of integrity and the need to respect certain ‘firewalls’ both between the different customers, and between the customers and other businesses within BCS/BES.
- The need for firewalls leads to the position having some considerable need of autonomy and there is a high level of decision-making within the job.
- The business has a high EBIT percentage through rather good margins and relatively low cost of doing business. The good margins are achieved even though most of the active ingredients sold by SpA are generic, and the ability to maintain price premiums over generics is a key part of the value added. This is done through strong technical support and innovative product ideas.
- Close collaboration with global accounts is a major part of the job.
Qualifications & competencies
- Strong technical competence of all active ingredient types (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides).
- Experience and good knowledge in insect epidemiology.
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills, especially with multicultural partners.
- Ability to act decisively and (when necessary) autonomously.
- Experience of management of complex and sometimes conflicting situations.
- 10 years proven track record of international technical development, and regulatory affairs.
- Strong Customer Relationship Management and Key Account Management Skills.
- Ethical business sense (need to respect confidentiality between business partners and own company).
- Transversal Leadership skills (management without hierarchical authority).
- Strong ability to partner with internal/external stakeholders.
- Experience of Consumer products (sold in DIY and food markets).
