Valeo

The mission of the thermal systems business group is to develop and manufacture systems, modules and components to ensure thermal energy management of the power train and comfort for each passenger, during all phases of vehicle use. These systems help to significantly reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and other pollutants and harmful particles from vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines. They also increase travel range and battery life for hybrid and electric vehicles. At the Front Office in Bietigheim-Bissingen we are supporting Sale- and Project activities and compose the interface between the customers Daimler and Valeo-internal departments at the development from Thermal Systems.

Tasks

  • Virtual Prototyping: Model and perform 2 to 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulations on Valeo products from component to system level using tools like CST or SIMetrix.
  • Analyze protection strategies against Electrostatic Discharge (ISO 10605) and switching transients (ISO 7637 pulses)
  • Electrical Load Analysis (ISO 25769): Simulate typical vehicle power supply anomalies—including superimposed alternating voltage, jump start, and load dump scenarios—to verify electrical robustness.
  • Model Validation & Calibration: Implement formal validation processes according to IEEE Std 1597.1 to ensure simulation models are correlated with measurements.
  • Compliance Prediction: Simulate Radiated Emissions (RE), Conducted Emissions (CE), and Immunity (BCI, Radiated) to ensure compliance with CISPR 25 and ISO 11452.
  • Statistical Analysis: Conduct statistical analysis on device mounting and cable harness regarding its impact on vehicle-level EMC performance e.g. based on Reverberation Chamber results
  • Design Optimization: Analyze resonant frequencies, coupling mechanisms, and shield effectiveness; provide concrete layout recommendations to hardware designers (e.g., grounding strategies, filter placement).
  • Root Cause Analysis: Support the testing team by measurements and failure simulations found during physical testing while proposing "virtual fixes" to verify before re-spinning hardware.

Profile

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Electromagnetics.
  • Several years in EMC simulation or RF design, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of 3D EM solvers (CST) and circuit simulators (SIMetrix).
  • Strong familiarity with relevant automotive and validation standards
  • Proactive bridge-builder combining technical excellence with agility, diplomacy, empathetic collaboration on multiple interdisciplinary project stakeholders.
